Orientation program sets solid grounding for new teachers
An annual New Teacher Orientation, part of what is considered one of the most extensive mentorship programs in the province, is underway at Chinook’s Edge.
“Our Board really believes in supporting our new teachers, so they can have the best start possible,” said Lissa Steele, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “It is important that our teachers know the extensive support available to them, both during their first year of teaching and throughout their careers. Statistics show that a fairly high percentage of teachers leave the profession within the first five years, so our efforts are geared towards retaining these highly skilled professionals and benefitting our students.” more...

Before students arrived to begin a new school year, staff from Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs shared a day of professional development activities. Staff from the grade 5-12 school participated in team building and visioning sessions as they set goals for the year.
